Mrs. Rose Mary Magnus, ship's sponsor, smashes a champagne bottle across the bow of the amphibious transport dock ship Green Bay (LPD 20) at the culmination of the christening ceremonies on Saturday, July 15, at Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, in Avondale, La. The bottle breaking was followed by a round of applause from more than 700 audience members and the platform participants, (front to back) James J. Schmitt, Mayor of Green Bay, Wis. Commander Burt L. Espe, USN, Prospective Commanding Officer Green Bay LPD 20, George R. Yount, Sector Vice President Ship Construction, Northrop Grumman Ship Systems. Green Bay (LPD 20) is the fourth ship in the San Antonio class of amphibious transport dock ships being built for the U.S. Navy - Marine Corps Team by Northrop Grumman Corporation's Ship Systems sector.
