Description

A fishing vessel is dwarfed by the giant bow of the tanker Polar Adventure, as the ship departs Portland, Maine. The 894.7 foot, 125,000 deadweight-ton double-hulled tanker, is the fourth of five ships being built by Northrop Grumman Corporation in New Orleans, La., for ConocoPhillips. The ship, which will carry more than one million barrels of oil from Alaska to California, was placed in service during ceremonies in Portland on September 23.
