In her new assignment, Fortenberry will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of workforce supply-chain strategies; managing ship-programs workforce allocations; developing workforce training programs to meet skill, quality and performance requirements; and assessing the long-term needs of the production workforce and supervision to meet future-construction strategic requirements.

"As Ship Systems faces the challenges of building multiple classes of ships and continues to move forward in this post-Katrina era, a concentrated focus on ensuring an adequate supply of skilled and appropriately trained crafts and supervisory personnel is a critical component of our ship construction organization," said Philip Teel, president of Northrop Grumman Ship Systems. "I am very pleased that we will have Ann Fortenberry's extensive experience in a role that will be so important to our successful recovery and regeneration."

Fortenberry began her career at Ingalls Shipbuilding (acquired by Northrop Grumman in 2001) in 1969 and has over 35 years of human resources experience including 20 years in management. She has been a key participant in and contributor to important company efforts including shipyard business integration, sector strategic planning, and Hurricane Katrina response and recovery.
