PASCAGOULA, Miss., April 27, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Edmond Hughes, Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) Ship Systems sector vice president of human resources and administration was recently honored as the Moss Point-Jackson County NAACP 2006 recipient for outstanding achievement.

Hughes leads the human resources and administration functions at Northrop Grumman's shipbuilding facilities in Pascagoula, Gulfport and New Orleans. He is the second African American to hold the position of vice president at Northrop Grumman's Ship Systems sector.

Hughes earned his bachelor's degree at Tougaloo College in Jackson. In 1991, he earned a master's degree in business administration from Indiana University. He worked for General Motors and TRW Automotive before joining Northrop Grumman in March 2006.

He is a member of the board of directors for the Gulf Coast chapter of Habitat for Humanity, a member of the Gulf Coast chapter of Tougaloo College's alumni association and a member of the Xi Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in Moss Point.
